Black Wattle Consulting makes workforce development resources for Aboriginal health and community workers involving:

  • knowledge of the Aboriginal health and community services workforce
  • ability to consult, listen and document
  • knowledge of national and local NT health and child and family policies
  • ability to communicate with a wide range of service staff

1. A timeline history of Aboriginal Health Workers and Aboriginal Community Workers NT 1970–2013
This timeline poster is a unique story telling and history machine, recording and celebrating the achievements of generations of NT Aboriginal Health Workers, child and family community workers and educators. This poster timeline spans 143 years honours the names and events that shaped both NT and Australia wide health and community services.  Read more

 

2. NAPCAN: Child Safe Organisation project (CSO)
Black Wattle Consulting undertook final consultations for NAPCAN NT  with child and youth service providers on service accreditation for the NAPCAN NT Child Safe Organisations project, a  project funded by the NT Department of Children and Families. The final report reviewed the engagement of 20 central NT child and youth service providers with respect to service accreditation initiatives (July 2010 – September 2011). Read more…

 

3. A code of ethics for people working with children and and young people in the Northern Territory
In 2012 the National Association for Prevention of Children Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN NT) asked Black Wattle Consulting to develop a code of ethics for people working with children and and young people in the Northern Territory.  The Code was launched in 2014. It was developed in partnership with other NT Peak Bodies and NTCOSS and the former SAF,T, then SNAICC,  and endorsed by the Department of Families and Children NT.  A beautiful code poster is available for services seeking workforce development resources.  Read more…
